Nokia was the mother of all mobile phones. Way before Apple and Android came into the picture.

What happened? Nokia had apps before anyone came up with apps, Nokia had a mobile OS way before too. Symbian had a bright future. Again what happened?

Nokia generally just lost traction on the Human element of there devices and their UI. People wanted to interact, and not to apply commands with their devices. They wanted unification and not distortion. As time came after the year 2000. Our device interaction became more and more complicated. We tended to move away from the norm of voice and SMS and more into data. But rather use our device as an important part of our daily life.

Nokia kept the steam pressed ahead with mobile commands interfaces, and complicated it to a point where you needed to be a Guru to enable what you wanted it to do.

It all hit rock bottom with the Nokia N97 this was suppose to be the answer to Nokia’s market perception however the project managers within Nokia pressed along to deploy a buggy device that was given away for cheap just to get the damn thing out of your face.

Nokia’s simplicity in their non-smart phone category was not enhanced to their smartphones and never thought of thoroughly to be deployed to the hungry market that was really waiting for Nokia to come back with a punch.

Elop’s appointment and Nokia’s answer with Windows Phone would have been a killer product. However Nokia’s deep problem of confused product line still haunts Nokia till today.

Nokia must stop this FMCG category management and focus on a killer device for the market. People want one device with killer features, not 1000’s of devices each with a special feature.

Apple has one phone, and that same phone is evolving, at the same time their iOS is enhancing as time goes forward. Catering to the current market need.

Android is popular yes, however which Android device should I get? That is an underlying question many people ask when faced with the question.

Going back to Nokia, Windows Phone? Yes! But now that’s what the market faces which Windows Phone should I get to have the best and all features I need?

I still believe Nokia makes Beautifully design devices, they are as simple and artistic as any Apple product. But it’s the guts inside in terms of hardware and software that compliments that design.

Nokia it’s simple, people want one thing. And when I say one thing they want one simplified unified device.
