Creative adjustment to a brand to speak local …

Ive had this idea for years now, all the way back in 2003. Really haven’t had the opportunity to talk about my ideas and creative concepts.

So what is “Ebay3” it’s actually “Ebay” for the Middle-East. Why do you think i called it Ebay3? well the concept is creative integration to the region. people’s perception on Ebay that it is far and it’s American. Ebay doesnt give the facilities to the Middle-East even though the services can be accessed and catered to the region. It still seems unfamiliar to the people here and slightly considered foreign. How to bring a mega company like Ebay to come closer to the Middle-East, this could also work for other companies but to a limit. Ebay is fortunate to be called Ebay and by adding the number 3 just simply works for the people who speak arabic. The notion of Arabish or Arabizi is the use of English letters to speak arabic. The number 3 represents the letter ع in the Arabic letters, as you can see people have just reversed it to use it to communicate. for example if i want to say to a person “come here” via text message, i send in Arabizi english “Ta3al”.
So coming to Ebay, why did i add a 3?, the word “Bay3” means selling or trading. So by default adding a 3 to the Ebay name means, Electronic Trading, which is what Ebay does online. So if Ebay wanted to set up business in the Middle-East and have their e-commerce with its distribution channels, they must first speak the local language. Everyone knows what Ebay does, however people want to be close it. By calling it Ebay3 it is easy for the local community to spread it and talk about it.
Dubizzle, one of the most popular ecommerce sites in the Middle-East, with a creative name that has picked on. Even though it’s a lingo created by Snoop Dogg. People were using it. I use it very ofter even before Dubizzal was created. “I heading to Dubizzle for a vacation ” so common in the local community. The company picked it up and used it as a trading platform which exploded with success.
When i was still 23 years old  I had the thought to actually to go to california and tell Ebay about this, however it was a lost dream. Now I just want to talk about it, hopefully Ebay picks up this article and makes it a reality.
